Use as a review templateUse this checklist as the structure for a manual review, or as a way to sense-check what an automated scan reports. Findings are framed as questions because the correct answer depends on your permissions, products and jurisdiction.
Product pages
- Does the description of cover avoid implying a personal recommendation?
- Are key exclusions and limits visible on the page, not only in the policy wording?
- Is any comparison with other products fair and capable of being substantiated?
- Are testimonials and ratings current, attributable and not selectively edited?
- Is the insurer or underwriter identified?
- Are the IPID and policy wording linked from the page itself?
Quote journey
- Is a statement of demands and needs present for non-advised sales?
- Is it clear that no advice is being given, where that is the case?
- Are eligibility criteria stated before the customer invests time in a quote?
- Are medical or other sensitive questions accompanied by a purpose and a lawful basis?
- Are optional add-ons presented without pre-selection or pressure?
- Is the total payable, including fees, shown before the payment step?
Price and fees
- Are administration, cancellation and amendment fees disclosed in the journey?
- Where instalments are offered, is the total cost of credit clear?
- Are renewal price disclosures consistent with the previous year's premium presentation?
Disclosure and status
- Is the firm's regulatory status disclosed, with register details where required?
- Is the nature and basis of remuneration explained before conclusion?
- Are complaints routes, including any ombudsman or dispute resolution route, easy to find?
- Is claims contact information available without signing in?
Documents
- Are pre-contract documents reachable before purchase, not only after payment?
- Does the IPID follow the standardised sections and remain consistent with the policy wording?
- Are archived document versions retained so you can evidence what a customer saw?
Data protection
- Is privacy information available at every point of collection, including quick quotes?
- Do non-essential cookies and tags wait for consent before firing?
Turning the checklist into a routine
A checklist works once. What changes outcomes is the cadence:
- Re-check product pages after every campaign or price change.
- Re-check the quote journey after any development release that touches forms.
- Re-check documents whenever the policy wording changes.
- Keep a record of what was reviewed, when, and by whom.
